University of Basrah Organizes a Workshop on Desertification Phenomenon and Land Sustainability
The College of Agriculture at Basrah University organized a workshop on the phenomenon of desertification, its causes, methods of addressing it, and land sustainability for a more secure future.
The workshop aimed to introduce the phenomenon of desertification, its causes, ways to address it, and programs for managing desertified soils.
The workshop, which was presented by Dr. Nihad Shaker Sultan, included an introduction to desertification, its types, and the main causes of its emergence, as well as how to deal with soils affected by desertification and ways to mitigate the spread of this serious phenomenon impacting agricultural production.
The workshop recommended the need for government programs to reduce this phenomenon and successful management projects for soils susceptible to desertification.
