Master's Thesis at the University of Basrah Explores Sedimentary Characteristics of the Nfayil Formation
A master's thesis at the College of Science, University of Basrah, titled "Sedimentary Characteristics of the Nfayil (Middle Miocene) and Injana (Upper Miocene) Formations in Karbala Governorate" was conducted.
The thesis, presented by student Maryam Abdul-Imam Yaseen, aimed to identify the sedimentary characteristics of the Nfayil formation.
The study involved field and laboratory work, including isotope analyses to determine the depositional environment and source of the sediments. Additionally, it included petrographic analysis of sandstone components to identify sediment sources, depositional environment, heavy and clay minerals, and diagenetic processes.
