Master's Thesis at the University of Basrah Explores Bioremediation of Chicken Feathers
A master's thesis at the College of Science, University of Basrah, investigated the isolation and identification of bacteria species that produce the enzyme keratinase, aiming to optimize conditions for their effectiveness in the bioremediation of poultry feathers.
The thesis, presented by student Noor Mahmoud Ahmed, seeks to isolate keratinase-producing bacteria from soil containing poultry waste and convert it into high-nutritional-value livestock feed.
The study concluded by registering nine bacterial species, for the first time globally, as keratinase producers and documenting the genus *Rummelibacillus* for the first time in Iraq.
