University of Basrah Organizes the Annual Ceremony Commemorating the Martyrdom of the Victory Leaders
The University of Basrah, in collaboration with the Popular Mobilization Committee in Basrah, organized the central annual ceremony to commemorate the martyrdom of the Victory Leaders.
Dr. Muhanad Jawad Al-Asadi, the university president, stated that all these events hold deep and profound meanings and implications, possibly forming the concept of martyrdom and sovereignty. This concept has become increasingly ingrained in minds and consciences. He added that it is very natural for the names of Al-Muhandis and Suleimani to dominate the general scene in Iraq due to their status, position, and influence across various events and milestones, and in relation to the circumstances of their assassination, including time, place, the involved party, and the subsequent repercussions and reflections of the assassination.
He pointed out that ending the American foreign presence was one of the prominent priorities of the martyr leaders and was no less significant than defeating the terrorist organization ISIS. It continues to hold the same priority among honorable Iraqis following the treacherous assassination. He noted that the complete restoration of national sovereignty is the demand of all Iraqis, thus the blood of the two revered martyrs remains a beacon lighting the path toward achieving major objectives.
For his part, Ali Ibraheem, Chief of Staff at Basra's Popular Mobilization Committee, said that when they thought that killing would break the will of nations, it was to the detriment of our enemies because they fail to understand our value system. The most complex part of our system is the value of martyrdom, the meaning of a martyr, and the martyrs' feeling of being alive and provided for by God.
He explained that today we remember people we loved, cherished their company, learned from, emulated, and worked with for values and principles that they elevated through their martyrdom and protected with their arms in life. They have established a great legacy after their departure and have become role models.
He pointed out that some refer to martyr Al-Muhandis and martyr Suleimani as the makers of victory. Yes, they are, but I also call them makers of humanity, creators of nations, through this great sacrifice that charted the most liberating paths for the free.
