A Master's Thesis at Basrah University Examines Al-Zubair Formation of the Middle Shale Unit (Fourth Thrust Unit) in the Rumaila Field in Southern Iraq
A master's thesis at the College of Science at the University of Basrah examined the petrophysical, mineralogical and geochemical study of the Middle Shale Unit (Fourth Thrust Unit) in the Zubair Formation in the Southern Rumaila Field in Basrah, southern Iraq.
The study presented by the student Hussein Ali Hussein aims to conduct a comprehensive study of the petrophysical properties of the Middle Shale Member and classify the reservoir into distinct rock units and identify productive and non-productive layers.
The study included determining the petrophysical properties of the reservoir such as porosity, permeability, shale volume, fluid saturation, identifying clay and non-clay minerals and their impact on reservoir properties, and identifying the main oxides and trace elements to determine the environmental conditions during sedimentation.
