For sustainability in marine coasts... University of Basrah collects samples from coral reef bottoms
A scientific and research team consisting of Dr. Malik Hasan Ali, Dr. Huda Kazim Ahmed, Dr. Walaa Majeed Khudir, and the instructor Hanaa Hussein Mohammed collected samples from the coasts overlooking the Iraqi territorial waters off the oil ports in the "Rock" area, with the assistance of marine patrols of the Naval Force Command.
The expedition included recording changes in the environmental factors of the area and collecting various samples from the coral reef bottoms, including corals, benthic invertebrates, and sediments, for the purpose of sending them to research laboratories, conducting aquatic environment surveys, and identifying the problems faced by the area in order to devise environmental solutions for its development.
