In celebration of Global Entrepreneurship Week, University of Basrah discusses a pioneering project
In conjunction with Global Entrepreneurship Week, the Technology Incubator Unit at the Marine Science Center, in collaboration with the Technology Incubator Division at the University of Basrah, discussed a new pioneering project titled "The Potential for Storing Carbon Dioxide in Deep Geological Layers in Southern Iraq."
The project, presented by Dr. Dawood Salman Banai, explored the potential of using CO₂ storage technology as an innovative environmental approach. This technique involves collecting CO₂ from industrial sources, like power plants and oil facilities, and then storing it permanently and safely in deep rock formations (geological formations). The goal is to reduce the amount of carbon released into the atmosphere, thereby contributing to the mitigation of global warming and the associated climate changes.
