University of Basrah Organizes a Lecture on Plant Tissue Culture
The Marine Science Center at Basrah University organized a scientific lecture on plant tissue culture.
The lecture, presented by Dr. Mahmoud Shakir Hashim, aimed to introduce the advantages and disadvantages of successful plant cultivation using tissue propagation as one of the modern technological methods based on growing plant parts in artificial environments.
The lecture highlighted the advantages of tissue culture, such as the use of fewer tissues, the growth of seedlings in short periods, and the possibility of year-round cultivation without being restricted to a specific season due to the availability of similar environmental conditions in the laboratory. Additionally, it noted the lack of need for large spaces, as ten times the number of plants can be produced in one-tenth of the area.
