University of Basrah Organizes a Seminar on the Effects of Drug Addiction
The College of Medicine at the University of Basrah organized a seminar on the negative effects of drug addiction.
The seminar aims to explore the roots of addiction and the psychological and social reasons behind drug abuse.
The seminar included the presentation of several research papers, in which researchers provided a historical overview of drugs that were first manufactured in Japan in 1919 and used as stimulants to help World War II pilots overcome fatigue and maintain focus during long flights. It also covered the understanding of the roots of addiction and the psychological and social causes of drug abuse, highlighting that addiction is a psychological disorder that requires understanding and treatment and that the greatest weapon against addiction is prevention.
