A Master's Thesis at the University of Basrah Examines the Biological Activity of Curcumin Derivatives
A master's thesis at the College of Pharmacy at the University of Basrah examined the computational design, synthesis and study of the biological activity of curcumin derivatives.
The thesis presented by the student Imad Khalaf Hassan aimed to study the effective pharmaceutical activity of curcumin, as it has limited pharmaceutical applications due to its rapid decomposition in alkaline and neutral environments due to the presence of the beta-dequinone group as well as the acidic hydrogen in the alpha carbon.
The study included investigating the biological activity of the compounds manufactured as antioxidants to evaluate the effect of structural changes on their activity as antioxidants.
