University of Basrah Organizes a Workshop on Combating Violence Against Women
The College of Pharmacy at the University of Basrah, in collaboration with the Women's Affairs Representative at the Arab Gulf Academy for Maritime Studies and the Women's, Family, and Child Affairs Department in the Basra Governorate Office, organized a workshop entitled "The Role of Women in Combating Violent Extremism Leading to Terrorism," coinciding with the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence campaign.
The workshop aimed to raise awareness and educate attendees about the dangers of the spread of violence against Iraqi women and the necessity of curbing this phenomenon to create a healthy social environment that supports women in improving their family and personal circumstances. This has a positive impact on future generations and Iraqi society as a whole.
Instructor Rawnaq Thamer stated that the workshop discussed several key topics, including defining the risks of violence against women and its negative impact on society in general and youth in particular, clarifying causes and consequences, and proposing solutions to reduce violence.
