University of Basrah organizes a course on plastic-eating fungi
The College of Science at Basrah University organized a course on plastic-eating fungi.
The course, presented by Dr. Najwa Mohammed Jameel, summarized the role of fungi in decomposing plastic, using their enzymes to transform it into environmentally friendly materials, thus reducing pollution. Some types, like Aspergillus and Penicillium, break down plastic, while others produce recyclable plastic. This discovery is promising for sustainable solutions.
