University of Basrah Holds a Symposium on Solar Cells and their Applications as Clean and Renewable Energy
The College of Education for Pure Sciences, Department of Physics, held a symposium on solar cells and their applications as clean and renewable energy as part of the activities of the Entrepreneurship Week.
The symposium, delivered by Dr. Muhammad Fadhel Abdul-Wahid and in collaboration with a group of lecturers, included a definition of solar cells as devices that convert solar energy into electrical energy using semiconductor materials.
And how they work through the photostatic effect, where photons release electrons to generate an electric current and generate residential electricity and use it in homes to reduce electricity costs and concentrated solar energy and apply it in power stations using lenses or mirrors.
In addition to industrial and agricultural uses such as operating machines and water pumps and transportation applications, their use in electric cars and portable devices, charging phones and tablets, smart infrastructure, street lighting and transportation systems.
