The College of Agriculture at the University of Basrah organized a workshop on the digestion of water, sediment, plant, and animal tissue samples and their preparation for measuring heavy metals.
The workshop aims to familiarize participants with digestion methods for preparing water samples, explaining the steps for collecting samples from the environment and transferring them to the lab for preparation and digestion using acids and methods of addition and preparation.
The workshop, conducted by Dr. Amjad Kazem Rassan and instructor Ali Wafiq Ali, included an introductory lecture about heavy metals, their sources, types, and toxicity at increased concentrations. It also highlighted the main causes of concentration increases over the past years.
