A scientific study at University of Basrah explores determining the impact of mineral scale formation under different injection water sources.
A scientific study prepared by Dr. Adnan Badr Ghalib at the Qurna Education College, University of Basrah, investigated determining the impact of mineral scale formation under different injection water sources on the performance of the Mishrif carbonate reservoir in the Halfaya oil field in southern Iraq.
The study, published in the Journal of Petroleum Exploration and Production Technology, indexed in Scopus repositories, included that scale formation is a complex process influenced by several factors, including the composition of the injection water, temperature and pressure, and the presence of other minerals.
The study's results highlighted the importance of water treatment in preventing scale formation and ensuring the sustainability of oil production in the long term.
