A Phd thesis at the College of Education for Humanities at the University of Basrah investigated "The Spatial Analysis of Small Industries in the Districts of Al-Hartha and Shatt Al-Arab – A Comparative Study."
The thesis, presented by the student Ibtehal Jassim Sahib, aimed to study small industries and assess the impact of geographical factors that contributed to their location and distribution, as well as to elucidate their structure and the obstacles facing their growth.
The thesis included several sections that defined the concept of small industries, their characteristics, classification, and importance, focusing on their historical development in the districts of Al-Hartha and Shatt Al-Arab, where the total number of small enterprises reached 743 establishments and the total number of workers reached 2300 in the food, metal, wooden products, and textile industries.
