An academic at university of basrah Participates in research at the first international conference on mechanics of advanced materials and equipment

An academic in faculty of engineering at university of basrah Dr. Safaa Khairy Participated at the first international conference on mechanics of advanced materials and equipment in Iran.

The participation included a research titled   ((Characterization of damage in welded panels using acoustic emission and digital image bonding)).

A series of tests were carried out to investigate the characterization of damage in welded and corrosive steel plates using structural health monitoring techniques (SHM)

He explaining that acoustic emissions are a non-destructive testing technique using to locate and monitor cracks during the service.

Acoustic emissions were used to characterization the damage during the development the crack on the base the relationship between the time of the rise of the capacitance and the average frequency of the recorded data. The results were confirmed by comparison with the visual observation of the notch at the end of the test and the digital image measurements.

 The results obtained have provided a more detailed understanding of the mechanisms of damage, resulting that to it use to early warning against a final failure and thus ensuring the integrity of structures.
