University of Basrah discusses the manipulation of ideology in the interpretation of the political speech

A seminar at Faculty of Arts at university of basrah discussed the manipulation of ideology in the interpretation of the political speech.

Dr.Jassim Khalafah Sultan said that the purpose of the seminar is statement of the direct interpretation of the political speech presented by the media as an increasingly important means, through which the Arab public shapes their understanding and therefore determines their reaction to the West.

The seminar dealt with the study of manipulation in order to correct the potential misconceptions among of the Arab public, where preliminary findings reference to that interpreters intervene to represent certain ideological positions, including anti-Islamophobia, sectarianism and anti-Israel attitudes.

The researcher suggested modifying a copy of the Hatem and Masson (1997) model of the ideological analysis in translation.
