Dr. Eyad Qassem Mahdi Al-Makki said that New Delhi metallo-βlactamase (NDM) which producedby E.coli where makes it resistant to antibiotics class of β-lactam , which leads to limited options for treatment of hospital-acquired infections, especially in relation to resistance to Carbapenems Which represents the last choice to treat those infections,The risk of this disease is due to its rapid spread globally, discovery of new isolates producing this enzyme, which negatively affects the general health of humans.so Al-Makki added that the isolation of NDM-5 from E.coli in running water near a hospital in the city of Montpellier (France) is the first registration at the level of the European Union and used modern molecular techniques to isolate and purify the gene responsible for the production of this enzyme has been registered in the World Bank of Genetics National Center for Biotechnology Information (NCBI).
