A seminar at faculty of Agriculture, university of basrah discussed (alternative methods of purification of drinking water and using Moringa plant of Water purification).
The academic at department of Soil Sciences and Water Resources Huda Ahmed Yassin said that one billion people in Asia, Africa and Latin America rely entirely on untapped surface water sources to meet their daily water needs, where nearly two million people die every year from diseases caused by contaminated water, mostly children under the age of five.
She also said that researchers found that it was possible to go a long way towards providing clean water using the seeds of the Moringa oleifera tree, where grows in Africa, Central and South America, the Indian subcontinent and Southeast Asia, where it is resistant to drought, and uses its oil in lighting and cooking, also used in In soil improvement, it has medicinal uses and high nutritional benefits. The seeds of the tree can be used after crushing it as a water purifier and improving its human consumption. It is useful that this process, which is still not widely known, even in areas which Moringa is growing.
So she recognized that this process does not represent a comprehensive solution to the risk of water-borne diseases, but it could significantly reduce and reduce deaths from untreated water.
