University of Basrah discusses effective ways to solve the slums in Basrah

Under the auspices of Dr. Thamer Ahmed Hamdan, the President of University of Basrah. The Presidency of the University of Basrah and cooperation with the Iraqi Institute for Economic Reform organized a seminar under title effective ways to solve the slums in Basrah.

The seminar was attended of a distinguished presence of the local and central governments because of its importance in the lives of slum dwellers.

The lecturer in the seminar Eng. Astbrak Ibrahim Al - Shawk said that Basrah is the second in the proportion of random housing after the capital Baghdad, he is explaining the given of several studies and suggestions for the exit of quick solutions and thee put of alternatives instead of forcing them out, he also offering information and ratios of the number of slums across Iraq.

Al - Shawk confirmed that Basrah included the procedures and plans that were prepared by the Coordinating Committee for solve of slums.

he is Explaining the put of a framework for the work of a national program for the rehabilitation and settlement of informal housing communities, in the seminar Al - Shawk discussed the reality of slums in Basrah through high-resolution space photography, in addition to tables and diagrams of its number and locations with the mention of strategic solutions to be addressed and approved by the Council of Ministers.

The seminar which held by the Presidency of the University was attended by a number of specialists and officials in the local and central government.

In his side, MP. Dr. Khalf Abdel Samad said in his speech that the problem of slums are a large, he confirmed on given of several suggestions to the central and local government to solve it, which represented radical solutions to solve it. MP. Faleh al-Khazali siad he that presented an important suggest to the central government to solving this problem has greatly expanded in the country.

Dr. Nasr Al - Musawi presented a suggestion for the construction of integrated housing complexes infrastructure and services in one of the solutions that contribute to solving this phenomenon.
