University of Basrah organizes a scientific seminar about looking forward to the future guidance for water desalination of the Governorate

Basrah Studies Center and Arabian Gulf at university of Basrah and with the participation researchers and Specialists were organized a scientific seminar about looking forward to the future guidance for water desalination of the Governorate.

the seminar included a lecture, where presented by Dr.Iman Naeem ghadban, she dealt with the role of the state and concerned institutions in solving the water crisis that the entire governorate suffers from, finding the best solution to face the salinity of water in the Shatt al-Arab, which exceeded (1000) ppm instead of (500) ppm in the rest of the Governorate.

the seminar discussed the reasons for the aggravation of the crisis, the most important of which are the current violations of Basrah water percentage from other governorates and the inability of the government to control the consumption and sharing of water among it and the disruption of the project of Al- buadiha irrigation and plans and projects that are hoped to be established on the Shatt al-Arab.

The seminar showed the extent of the environmental disaster expected and the seriousness of the current situation resulting from the acute water shortage, despite the relative abundance of the Tigris and Euphrates rivers in the waters of the Shatt al-Arab.
