Dr. Ali Al- Kanani, Director of the Department of Media and Public Relations at university of Basrah said that university of Basrah came in the 2nd after university of Bagdad in (URAP) of 2017-2018. According to the letter of congratulations from the management of university ranking.

Al- Kanani said also that university of Basrah got on a certificate documenting from the tagged institution, so he explained that ranking university system focuses on Academic quality by (URAP) which collects data with a number of researches published to rank them by their academic performance. In addition to the overall score of each higher education institutions depends upon its performance over several indicators. Which are described below. Once initial processing of the raw data the 4,000 Higher education institutions (HEI) is complete, the top 2,500 of them are scored. URAP covers more than top 10% of all HEI in the world, where Al- Kanani said that this ranking is the one of the of the most comprehensive university ranking systems in the world.

University ranking academic performance depends in its rank on on several factors: indicator which depends on the articles, article impact total and citation impact total, while the objectives depends on research impact and research quality.
