Scientific study at the University of Basrah about the possibility of rehabilitating (RO) desalination plants

The College of Engineering at the University of Basrah discussed the possibility of rehabilitating the General industrial and private RO desalination plants operating on Shatt al-Arab River to overcome the water crisis in the governorate.

Dr. Basem Taleb explained that there were alteration processes upon the desalination plants that affiliated to the Faculty of Engineering during the past two days by the staff of the college within the Chemical Engineering department. The result shows that the Salinity ratio in water was zero. Also, he mentioned that the Station membranes were giving 10 m³ and the salinity ratio was 550. The responsible staff of desalination plants within Engineering College started the process of dissolution through two stages that within the second stage. The salinity ratio that was produced almost zero, desalination plants were producing 10 m³, and now it is producing 5&1/2 m³ and then salinity ratio would be processed to be ready for human consumption.
