The College of Sciences at Basrah University organized a seminar on the efficiency of two types of submersible plants within the removal of Nickel and Lead elements and the treatment of wastewater.
The researcher Enas Awni Mehdi, discussed the ability of the two types of plants (Ceratophyllum demersum) and (Najas marina) to remove Nickel and Lead elements within single laboratory experiments and experiments with mixing the two elements as well as, conducting laboratory experiments to test the efficiency of the two plants in improving wastewater that came from Hamdan wastewater treatment station. The results showed that the two plants were able to remove and accumulate the two elements mentioned above with different removal efficiencies. Ceratophyllum plant was much effective in removing Nickel and Lead elements than Najas marina plant within the two types of the experiments. The results of the applied experiments also showed that the Ceratophyllum was much effective in treating and improving Wastewater.
