A seminar at the College of Agriculture, at the University of Basrah, discussed global warming phenomena and its environmental impacts. Dr. Taha Yassin Al-Iedani, a lecturer at the mentioned college, explained that the main reason for the high temperatures and the air pollution is the smoke from the huge factories. He added that China is one of the most nations that hold polluted air, as well as America, is one of these nations.
He explained that the reason for the high temperatures, lack of vegetation cover and the high percentage of Co2. Also, it is expected that in 2030, due to climate change, the damages are going to be higher, up to 600 billion dollar, in addition to the increase in the floods and earthquakes. One of the most important solutions proposed by Al-Idani in order to reduce global warming is the use of sustainable energy, reforestation, and maintenance of water resources.
