A seminar in the College of Agriculture at the University of Basrah discussed the analysis of digital images using the ImageJ application. A lecturer at the college Dr. Labid Abdulla mentioned that the application is for free and developed by the American Institute of Health. The application is used to extract information from digital images in the field of biogeographic, astronomical, geographical and physiological.
Where it can recognize the regular and irregular lengths and spaces, as well as, manual and mechanical counting of bacterial, fungal colonies, insect groups and even stars for astronomy. It can estimate compounds quantitatively from TLC plates and Agarose gel. It can also separate colors as for the images of fluorescent microscopes and processing of images in chronological or monolithic quantities to know changes in something during a period of time. Noteworthy that the provided measurements which are very accurate.
