University Basrah discusses poetry as a source of Arabic Grammar

A discussion course at the College of Education for Girls at Basrah University discussed poetry as a source of Arabic grammar.

The head of the Arabic language department Dr. Khaled Jafal Lafta mentioned that Arabic poetry allows what is not allowable in other literary arts. He also shows that many grammatical rules have taken their path to the public and become rules committed by scholars. Although the poetry may go farther from the general grammatical rules because of " Poetic necessity "which allows the poet to go farther from the linguistic system.
