The Faculty of Management and Economics at the University of Basrah organized a seminar entitled (Effecting Factors on Accounting Department Performance).
The two researchers Faiha Abdul Qadir Mahmood and Dr. Fatima Jasim Mohammed mentioned the aim of the study is to focus on the performance of the students at the Accounting Department as there are many factors that can affect the performance of students.
For that reason three factors were selected as gender, specialization in secondary studies branches (scientific, literary or commercial) and the demographic factor, whether the student is a resident of Basrah or other governorates. The research sample was selected from second-year students for the academic year 2017-2018. Statistical methods for testing and analyzing results.
The researchers mentioned that there is a significant relationship between the gender and the performance of the students at accounting department, the specialization in the secondary studying and the performance of the students in Accounting Department, and the place of residence and the performance of the students at accounting department.
It was concluded that personal and professional factors such as student’s desire and motivation to choose this specialty have a strong impact on the choice of accounting specialization and that affect males more than females.
