The results of QS universities ranking classification results for 2019 showed a clear progress for Iraqi universities. Where a number of Iraqi universities obtained advanced positions within the Arab classification. Baghdad University ranked 17th out of more than 1100 Arab universities and the first locally among more than 82 Iraqi universities. Followed by Al-Kufa University which ranked 30th order from Arab universities and the second locally, while Babylon University ranked 37th order from Arab universities and the third locally. Basrah University on other hand ranked 40th order from Arab universities and fourth locally followed by Mustansiriya University, Nahrain University and the University of Technology.
QS is considered to be one of the world's most famous international rankings it is published annually through the British company Quacquarelli Symondos. Which originally published its rankings through the Times of Higher Education newspaper publications from 2004 till 2009 in the name of "World Universities Ranking for the Times of Higher Education and Quacquarelli Symondos ".
QS publishes an annual report in which more than 30,000 worldwide universities are ranked according to the academic and scientific standards.
