University of Basrah Discusses the Human Parvovirus B19

The Faculty of Science at the University of Basrah organized a seminar entitled "Human Parvovirus B19".

The researcher Muhanad Abd Al-Wahab Kadhim mentioned that the seminar included an acknowledgment of the virus and its categorization and methods of spread and the most important diseases that are caused by it. Including the Fifth disease, which is known by skin rash, which is called slap cheek as well as Aplastic Crisis disease. That affects the patients with thalassemia and sickle-cell anemia. Which is known by broken blood cells and low blood haemoglobin to a very low level of up to 1gm/dl. as well as to highlight its transference methods among children who are at a high risk to infection also the adults and methods of infection and the most important methods of diagnosis using antibodies that are found at the patient's bodies in the determination of the disease. And the use of PCR technology, which is considered to be more accurate.
