University of Basrah holds a scientific seminar on the effects of salinity on the future of palm cultivation in Basrah

Date Palm Research Center at the University of Basrah organized a scientific seminar entitled "Salinity and its negative effects on the growth and production of date palms in Basrah Governorate" with a participation of a number of researchers. The seminar included several sides. The first of which focused on the physiological effects of salinity on the growth, development, and production of palm, while the second side dealt with the relationship of salinity to plant diseases. The third side of the seminar included the importance of soil and water management in reducing the effects of salinity. Finally, the researchers concluded that the continued impact of saline will have serious negative consequences on the cultivation and production of palm in the province of Basrah.
