A seminar was held at the college of arts in Basrah University discussed Haiku in English and Arabic poetry.
Dr. Hanna Al-Bayati, addresses a simplified definition of the new Arab form of Haiku, tracing its Japanese assets, its pioneers and the reasons for its rapid spread within the world and Arabic literature.
She examined a comparison between the Haiku and other poetic forms such as the flash poem and the sonnet, She also highlighted the reasons for mixing these three poetic forms, referring to other poetic forms similar to Haiku in English and Arabic literature to explain the influence of the two literatures in this new poetic form, which has an ancient similar roots and writing requirements of Haiku in the two literatures.
