College of Engineering

College of Engineering was established in Basrah at the begging of the studying year in 1964-1965. It aims at securing the country needs, of engineers, in general, and the southern area in specific. The studying period at the different college departments is four years except for college of Architecture which is five years of studying where the students are given a bachelor certificate in their specialized field. Postgraduate studies started within the college in the studying year of 1976-1977 to award High Diploma degree then Master degree at the departments of Civil Engineering, and Mechanical & Electrical Engineering. Doctoral studies, on other hands, started from 1992-1993 of the studying year at Mechanical and Electrical Engineering departments. The college is providing engineering consultancies for a great number of governmental departments, organizations, and companies through engineering consultancy office which was founded in 1981 to but the Engineering specialties to serve the community.
