Agriculture Faculty Deanship at the University of Basrah with the Second Secretary of the Netherlands Embassy in Iraq, Marc Barrackel, discussed the scientific cooperation methods between the two sides and to find the appropriate solutions for the agricultural problems which are facing this sector, especially water scarcity, high concentrations of salts and introduction of modern technologies in horticulture and irrigation systems.
The Assist Dean for administrative affairs of Agriculture Faculty, Dr. Mohsen Abdul-Hadi Dasher, mentioned that he explained the results of the graduate studies in the Faculty of Agriculture (Masters and Doctoral) in this field and the academic and practical experience of many researchers in the college to the Second Secretary of the Netherlands Embassy. In which if implemented by the ministries or the specialized bodies It would have been possible to solve many of these problems and challenges facing southern Iraqi areas, especially Basrah province, stressing the need to transfer and apply Netherlands experiences in the fields of techniques and methods of modern irrigation and the possibility of joint cooperation in terms of consultation of regulative and movable dams technical subject, which can be applied in Basrah province on the Shatt al-Arab.
For his part, the second secretary of the Netherlands embassy Marc Barrackel expressed that the Netherlands government has allocated great amounts to support the agricultural investment of Netherlands specializes in Iraqi markets and fields, as well as the possibility of scientific cooperation, exchanging of experiences and develop the capabilities of Agriculture Faculty graduates by some Netherlands institutes that will visit Iraq soon.
