The Cultural Center at the University of Basrah opened the second Oud corse of (Majeed Al-Ali), which included many events, including an exhibition of Oud makers from visual artists, as well as orchestral performances of Oud bands and single plays.
About the occasion of the celebration, the director of the center, Dr. Karim Abboud, mentioned that creativity continues in Basrah city, which has longly embraced the creators of artists, writers, and scientists. Today such a carnival is held to form the start of the University's initiative to be opened on the spaces of societies in all of its components.
The festival included an opening of an exhibition of Oud makers which included many different Oud instruments that were made by the most famous oud makers. The festival was attended by musicians from various provinces in Iraq, as well as Basrah musicians led by the Maestro Ali Najm Meshary.
Abbod, added that the forum is considered as an exceptional Basrah activity and Iraqi in its character. It emphasizes the ability of art to change and create peace and love climate. Students from the Iraqi Oud House have participated at the carnival, as well as, solo performances by the artist Sami Naseem, Kazim Kazar, Rond Kamal, Rusty Gamal, and Omar Karim.
