President of Basrah University Discusses Joint Cooperation Prospects with French Ambassador in Iraq

The President of the University of Basrah, Dr. Sajid Saad Al-Nur, with the French Ambassador in Iraq, Bruno Ober, discussed the prospects for joint cooperation and the opening of a French language teaching center at the University.

University president mentioned that he welcomed in his office today the French ambassador in Iraq, where the two sides discussed improving the cultural relationship between the university and French universities in the fields of health, environment, Petroleum, agriculture and legal studies as well as the technical aspects.

Al-Noor added that during the meeting, it was decided to open a new window for teaching the French language at the university by adding some subjects for students in the faculty of translation and English departments in the colleges to be followed by opening a French language teaching center at the university.

For his part, the French ambassador in Iraq mentioned that his visit was the first of its kind to Basrah University and comes to emphasize the keenness of the French Universities to open new prospects of cooperation with Iraqi universities, especially that Basrah University has a great cultural heritage.
