Ahmad Talal Ali Postgraduate student in pharmaceutical chemistry at Pharmacy College in Basrah University, with some researchers of the College Dr. Mazen Nazem Musa, Dr. Zuhair Ghalib Al-Shaheen and
Dr. Munther Abdul Jalil Muhammad published research in the title(Synthesis, Characterization, and Antibacterial Evaluation of Oxoazitidine Benzene Sulfonamide Derivatives as Hybrid Antibiotics) In the Hindi magazine Systematic Reviews in Pharmacy with an impact factor of 1.6 and within Scopus Q2 indexes.
The research included synthesis a new antibiotic active against a group of Gram-negative bacteria as well as Pseudomonas bacteria Penicillin-resistant as the target compound to be synthesized is a hybrid molecule of sulfonamide structure and a heterogeneous beta-lactam ring, both of which are known to have antibacterial activity and can kill or inhibit bacterial production.
The research aims to manufacture a new antibiotic made up of two parts, the Beta-lactam part of penicillin and Sulfonamide part of another antibiotic to eliminate the penicillin-resistant bacteria.
