A master’s dissertation was discussed in the College of Medicine, Basrah University on molecular characterization of Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus(MRSA) virulence factors isolated from Basrah hospitals by the postgraduate student, Mrs. Ban Abdul Amir Al-Khafaji.
The thesis aimed at studying virulence genes and determine their genetic sequence including (MecA, Sea, Seb, Tst, Hld) in Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) by using the (PCR) technique to determine the genetic sequence.
The thesis concluded that the infection with Methicillin-resistant germ is widespread among patients and in the hospital environment, the source of Methicillin-resistant is the medical and nursing staff of hospitals, which carries the largest percentage of Methicillin-resistant germs.
